At 90 minutes from the boundary of the Arctic Circle, the village of Luosto is right at the heart of Finnish Lapland. This tailor-made holiday allows you to explore it according to your own interests and pace. Highly rated by our holidaymakers every year, it’s the perfect opportunity to put together your ideal Lapland experience.

Journey around the shimmering landscapes of nearby Pyhä-Luosto National Park on efficient snowmobiles – there is a whole variety of routes on offer, from 10km safaris to 100km trails through the fells. You might wish to embrace a more natural form of speed and go on a dogsledding ride: easily the most popular activity on our winter holidays, and an undeniable thrill that cannot be missed.

Taking a break from husky and machine to personally connect with your surroundings, you should definitely take a lesson in cross-country skiing, which makes for an energetic and traditional way to fill part of the day. Snowshoeing is a slower alternative and will take you deep into white environments – there is also the option of trying this out at night while searching for the Northern Lights, combining two Finnish pleasures in the process. Other activities particularly linked to Lapland include seeing the workings of a regional reindeer farm and learning the basics of ice-fishing; for a truly Luosto-specific attraction, pay a visit to the enchanting Lampivaara Amethyst Mine.

All in all, you have the luxury of choosing. The basic holiday price includes flights, transfers and half-board accommodation in a cosy spa hotel. Cold weather clothing is provided for the duration of your stay.

All activities are individually priced, and each person who books five or more activities in advance of travel (excludes accommodation upgrades and equipment hire) will receive a 5% discount off the total price of their activities.

  • Aurora Alerts

    From: £7pp

An 'Aurora Alert' is an excellent addition to a holiday for any keen Aurora hunter and we can arrange for this to be included for you during your stay. The price shown is per room per night.

Effectively the alert is a mobile phone which receives a text message should the Northern Lights be spotted. These alerts will generally operate until around 1am but we always advise that you confirm with hotel staff as the times may vary.

The alerts are designed to be an aid to Aurora hunting and whilst every effort will be made to issue a text message to you should the weather and solar conditions seem conducive to a display, this cannot be guaranteed. The situation can change very quickly so you should keep an eye on the sky yourself and not rely solely upon them.

  • Spend the night in an Arctic View Room

    From: £272pp

Why not end your holiday in real style with a night in a stunning Glass Arctic View Room! These rooms are situated close to the Hotel Aurora, a short walk from the Tunturi Hotel and the cabins.

These luxurious rooms offer great views to the northern skies. The panoramic windows and partially glassed roofs mean that they are ideal for keeping your eye out for a potential Aurora display.

    Read more about this activity

Hotel Aurora's ten rooms will bring guests closer to the Finnish Winter's polar nights in total comfort – with high-quality features, fully-equipped bathrooms and great views. Guests will enjoy dinner in the delightful restaurant at Hotel Aurora and breakfast the next day is also included.

Our standard price is based on guests spending their final night in the Arctic View Rooms. You will therefore be asked to check out of your previous hotel room or cabin on the morning before your stay. If you would prefer to keep your hotel room or spend a different night in these unique rooms (or indeed if they are fully booked for your final night) supplements will apply. Please contact one of our travel experts for a quote for your chosen departure date. You can of course also choose to spend an additional night in Lapland to enjoy these rooms following your holiday.

Please note: Prices are based on you spending the first or last night of your holiday in this unique accommodation and not keeping your original accommodation. If you would like to do this on any other night during your holiday you will need to keep your accommodation and supplements will apply.

  • Overnight husky safari (only available from 16 Jan 2017)
