Details
Established by native Laplander Markku Inkila, the Northern Lights Village Resort is an embodiment of his passion and infectious enthusiasm for all things Aurora. If you're looking for a short Nordic trip that ticks all the boxes, look no further. This package has it all; winter activities, maximum opportunities to see the Northern Lights, unspoilt wildlife and exquisite food.
Markku and his wife Susanna have been acknowledged as 'Achievers' by the prestigious commerce-oriented Finnish publication 'Kauppalehti' so you can rest assured you're in expert hands. The team have endeavoured to design a resort which ensures guests can enjoy the magnificence of the Northern Lights and awe-inspiring nature of Finland at close proximity without forfeiting comfort.
This trip to Pyha combines the most popular Lapland activities. You'll have the chance to drive a snowmobile, embark on a husky safari and enjoy a reindeer sleigh ride. By night, take a minibus tour with your knowledgeable guide to escape light pollution and maximise your chances of witnessing the Aurora Borealis dance across the starry sky.
Everything is organised for you. You deserve to be fully present in the moment, savour this once in a lifetime vacation and hopefully, soak up the magic of the Northern Lights.

After a hearty breakfast, prepare to embark on one of the Arctic’s most popular activities; a husky safari. Just a short transfer away, your team of huskies will be eagerly anticipating your arrival. They will be so excited to ride with you between the snow-capped trees and across the glistening fells. You’ll receive a safety talk and briefing on how to mush before setting off on this bucket-list adventure.
You will be driving the sled for around one hour.
Lunch will be served in the restaurant before some free time to enjoy and explore the resort.
What could be better than watching the Aurora Borealis? How about as you drive a snowmobile across pristine fells? After a full safety briefing and driving instruction, you will follow your guide in search of the Northern Lights. Once you reach a prime viewpoint, you’ll keep warm by a roaring fire and enjoy hot drinks awaiting the night sky to perform its magical dance above you. This activity lasts around three hours in total.
Please note that the driver of a snowmobile must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving licence.
Following breakfast, you will enjoy a reindeer-pulled sleigh ride through the silent snowy forest and around the reindeer paddock (approximately 25 minutes). This was the traditional way of getting around in these parts of the world before the advent of the snowmobile. If you would like to extend your experience and have the opportunity to spend more time with the reindeer, please speak to one of our travel experts for more details.
Are you ready to hunt for the Northern Lights? This evening, you will be taken to a camp near a lake by minibus. You will enjoy hot drinks and a snack around a cosy campfire in a hut and should the lights appear, you can grab a reindeer hide, lie down in the snow and enjoy a captivating display. This activity will last around three hours in total.

Accommodation
One of our favourite partners, Northern Lights Village, launched their brand new destination in Pyhä in 2023. We have been privileged enough to watch this awesome team create two of our most popular destinations from the initial concept stage right through to the professional operation to which we send hundreds of happy guests each month during the Autumn and Winter seasons.
The small village of Pyhä is around 130km North of the Arctic Circle and around 90 minutes from Rovaniemi airport. The Northern Lights Village is located about 5km from the nearby downhill ski resort. The village is set in a beautiful, picturesque snowy forest and just a very short walk away you can find the frozen Lake Pyhäjärvi.
There is a restaurant and reception building on site where all your meals will be served. At a safari house you will be issued cold-weather clothing, and this is the meeting point for your activities. Please note that hot water is limited in certain accommodation types.
There are four types of accommodation located at this Northern Lights Village (2 of which are exclusive to this location!)
