On this tailor-made trip, you get to design your perfect winter holiday. Once you have chosen when you want to travel and for how long (we recommend a minimum stay of three nights), you can choose from a range of winter activities to add to your trip at an additional cost. You can select as many or as few activities as you wish from the extensive range on the 'Personalise Tour' tab and tailor your trip as required. All activities are individually priced, and our Travel Experts can assist you with your selection and will then provide a personalised itinerary quotation for you.
Situated 250 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, Inari's remote location is the ideal base for a winter short break. With untouched wilderness, dark night skies, and snow-laden landscapes, Inari is full of opportunities for Northern Lights hunting and Arctic experiences.
You can choose to spend your days snowmobiling, dog sledding, ice fishing, and learning about the fascinating Sámi culture for the full Finnish experience. At night, we have dedicated Aurora activities to choose from with expert local guides. Of course, your prime location also means that if conditions are right, you can simply walk from your hotel to the edge of the frozen lake and look up at Mother Nature's greatest show.

The newly refurbished Wilderness Hotel Juutua is situated right in the heart of Inari village. This village has huge cultural significance to the Finnish Sámi population both historically and today, which is reflected in the ownership of this hotel. The hotel became part of the Wilderness Hotel family in October 2022 and whilst they have put their own signature Scandi-chic design style on the hotel they have designed the interior to be sympathetic to its Sámi heritage. The main building houses the reception, lounge and bar area and the locally renowned Restaurant Aanaar on the ground floor with the standard double/twin wilderness rooms upstairs. A short walk from the hotel, you will find the Riverside Suites located on the shore of the frozen Juutua River. Restaurant Aanaar is a highly regarded fine dining restaurant which is popular with visitors and locals alike in the Inari region. The menu here reflects local dishes unique to Lapland and uses as many fresh, local ingredients as possible which are all sourced through a network of small, independent local suppliers. Experience the beautiful wilderness on this snowshoe walk in search of the Northern Lights. Youll meet with your local guide who will show you how to use your pair of snowshoes to walk easily across the snowy trails. Moving silently into the forest, youll reach a campfire where youll enjoy warm drinks and look to the skies for signs of the Aurora. You will be out for approximately 3 hours.
Duration: 3 hours
Spend the day outdoors and try ice fishing in the traditional Finnish way. Meeting with your local guide, youll take a snowmobile sleigh ride to the best ice fishing spots. Youll learn how to make a hole through the ice and then try winter fishing for yourself. Youll also enjoy open lunch by the open fire and warm drinks.
Duration: 4 hours
Meet Laplands favourite animals during your visit to the reindeer farm. Youll meet with a local reindeer herder who will introduce you to his reindeer and tell you all about the life of a herder and the Sámi culture.
Duration: 2 hours
Spend the day outdoors and try ice fishing in the traditional Finnish way. Meeting with your local guide, youll take a snowmobile sleigh ride to the best ice fishing spots. Youll learn how to make a hole through the ice and then try winter fishing for yourself. Youll also enjoy open lunch by the open fire and warm drinks. You will be out for approximately 4 hours.
Ride through the wintery wilderness in style as you learn how to snowmobile. Your local guide will give you instructions on how to drive your snowmobile before you set off for the snowy tracks and into the beautiful surrounding nature. Youll be out for approximately 4 hours and will stop for lunch by the open fire. Please note, you must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid drivers license to drive a snowmobile.

As the Sámi capital of Finland, your time in Inari wouldnt be complete without a visit to the Sámi Museum and Nature Centre to learn more about the culture and northern nature.
Starting from the hotel, youll walk 1km by the side of the beautiful river Juuta to the museum. You will get familiar with the rich and varied history of the Sámi people and their role in modern-day Lapland. Youll also gain an understanding of all 8 seasons of Lapland and see the wonders of Arctic Nature. Finish your visit with a stop in the gift shop selling handmade products to take back home as souvenirs or presents.

Meeting with your local guide, youll sit comfortably in a sleigh as your guide pulls you along on their snowmobile. Keep your eyes looking at the dark night skies as you make your way to the camp where a campfire awaits. Here, youll enjoy a hot drink while your guide tells you stories about the Aurora. If the conditions are right, youll be in one of the top places in the world to see the Northern Lights.
Duration: 3 hours (approximately)
Go in search of clear skies and the Northern Lights during this Aurora hunt by car. Meeting with your local guide, youll drive to a camp spot further into the wilderness where youll enjoy warm drinks and snacks. Here, youll listen to stories about the Northern Lights as you search the skies for the green dancing lights.

Meeting with your local guide, youll sit comfortably in a sleigh as your guide pulls you along on their snowmobile.
