Situated in Saariselkä, Finland, the Northern Lights Village puts you in prime Aurora viewing territory. This makes your 4-night stay in a glass-roofed Aurora Cabin even more exciting. What's more, you'll go on dedicated Northern Lights hunts and enjoy unforgettable daytime experiences such as dog-sledding. Saariselkä is ideally located at the edge of a winter wilderness in the far north of Finland. It is approximately 250km above the Arctic Circle which means that it is a prime location for Aurora hunters. Although the fresh Arctic air can be quite tiring, you will find yourself fighting to stay awake, attempting to seek out flickers of green in the sky above your bed. Don't worry if you fall asleep though, as you can make use of the Aurora alert system in your cabin which will sound if the Northern Lights are showing! Perhaps one of the most sought-after souvenirs from any Aurora holiday is a photograph of the lights. An initial Aurora workshop will reveal the secrets necessary for capturing the lights, introducing the settings required for producing the best pictures. You'll then set out to hunt the lights on two nights, enjoying time at an Aurora Camp and then going on a snowshoe hike. In addition to hunting the Northern Lights, this holiday includes some of our favourite winter activities. A session combining snowmobiling and ice fishing ensures that you are able to enjoy a popular Finnish pastime whilst also experiencing the thrill of snowmobiling. You will also enjoy a 10 km husky safari. When not planning on how to sneak a husky home, you shall take to the trails for an unforgettable adventure with the dogs. Living this far north of the Arctic Circle is extremely challenging given the harsh winters, but the indigenous Sámi people have thrived here for generations, many as reindeer herders. This holiday provides an insight into their culture, including a visit to the reindeer paddock for a sleigh ride. This four-night itinerary is designed to maximise your chances of seeing the Northern Lights, whilst also introducing you to the fascinating culture north of the Arctic Circle.

Travel on a city break that gives you the best of both worlds. From exploring Tromsø's cultural centre to journeying into its breathtaking natural surroundings for unforgettable Aurora hunts. Tromsø may be a vibrant and bustling city but its position 350km above the Arctic Circle makes this a city break with a big difference. Not only are you surrounded by stunning nature in the form of steep mountains and dramatic fjords but come nightfall, you're also in the heart of the Aurora Zone. Though the city is renowned for being able to observe this awe-inspiring natural wonder, we want your search for the Northern Lights to be memorable. That's why we have filled your itinerary with two dedicated activities to get you out of the bright lights and on an unforgettable Aurora chase. One evening will be spent on board a boat in the dark fjords surrounding Tromsø - an ideal and peaceful way to hunt for the Lights. On another evening, you will visit a local reindeer or husky camp (depending on departure date). At both camps, you will not only use the dark skies to look out for a potential display, but you'll also gain a unique insight into the lives of the animals and enjoy a traditional evening meal. We have left your days free to tailor however you please. Tromsø's city centre most certainly has all the attractions, vibrant cafes and restaurants to keep you entertained. Alternatively, you could add to your winter adventure with a dog sledding experience or a cruise through the nearby fjords to spot an array of Arctic wildlife. See our personalise tab for more details. Though Tromsø is a modern city, nature plays a big role. Being surrounded by such stunning natural landscape, there is a big commitment here to preserve this beauty as well as the local culture and reducing the negative impacts associated with tourism. There are few places left in the world that offer such an ideal mix of exciting city life with natural wonders. Tromsø gives you both, including the majestic Northern Lights right on its doorstep.   Image credits: Gaute Bruvik & Visitnorway.com, Baard Loeken and NordNorge, Credit Tromso Villmarkscamp, Ole C Salomonsen, Gaute Bruvik and NordNorge & Knut Hansvold and NordNorge

Sitting north of the Arctic Circle, you'll feel like you've walked through the wardrobe and into Narnia on this Lapland Christmas Break.  What's even better is the location. Your Lappish itinerary is complete with a husky safari and reindeer sleigh ride. You'll also have the opportunity to try your hand at snowmobiling - one of the most popular ways to travel across the Arctic wilderness. What makes this break extra special is the place you'll call home. Your glass-roofed accommodation is an Aurora cabin in the snow-covered wilderness, giving you incredible views of the night sky. As you'll be in Northern Lights territory, you could see the amazing light show right from your bed. Kids will love the excuse to stay up late and you won't be able to resist looking up at the sky and searching for the lights.  Saariselka itself is just 1km away and offers lots for families as well as some excellent downhill skiing. Explore two of Finland's most sought-after destinations during this seven-night holiday to Inari and Nangu. Both locations sit close to the expansive Lake Inari which freezes over in the winter and plays host to your memorable Aurora hunts and unbelievable Arctic activities. The special locations surrounding the gigantic Lake Inari are renowned for their pristine environments and Northern Lights track records. Many of our Artisan Travel Experts got their first experience of Finland's impressive wilderness in these areas and have since returned with their loved ones for many more adventures. Inari and Nangu both offer unspoiled winter scenes, superb lookouts over frozen Lake Inari and brilliant Arctic and Aurora experiences, but they each have their charm which you will discover during your seven-night break. Your first four nights will be spent in Inari, just outside the small village which is the heart of Sámi culture. Whether you have been to Finland before or this is your first time, Inari is a brilliantly authentic insight into the indigenous people that have called this area home for thousands of years.
