April is the month of life as we start walking through meteorological and astronomical Spring.
The flowers are starting to bloom, and some astronomical events will recognise these special seasonal moments.
Let’s take a look at what April 2025 has to offer.
The Moon & The Pleiades | April 1st
Tonight, there will be a conjunction between the Moon and the Pleiades or as they’re commonly known, the Seven Sisters, and the Moon will pass in front of the famous star cluster.
Although they’re lining up in the sky the distance between them both is vast, the Pleiades is 4.2 quadrillion km away compared to the Moon which is a modest 385,000 km away.

Full Pink Moon | April 12
The Full Moon in April lends it’s name after the seasonal event we’re all waiting for at this time of year, the blooming of flowers.
Despite its name, it won’t actually turn pink—it’s named after pink wildflowers that bloom in early spring.
The best time to photograph the moon is actually the day before when it rises in the blues and purples in the eastern sky opposite the sunset.

Lyrid Meteor Shower | April 22-23
The Lyrids, one of the oldest known meteor showers, peak on the night of April 22-23.
Expect around 15-20 meteors per hour, best seen after midnight. With a waxing crescent Moon setting early, conditions should be ideal for meteor watching.

Venus At It’s Brightest | April 24
Venus is the brightest object in our sky after the Sun and the Moon and on April 24th it will reach it’s brightest in the early morning just before the Sun rises.
Venus shines so brightly because it is covered in thick clouds that reflect about 75% of sunlight. As the closest planet to Earth, it appears larger and more luminous than most other objects. Its position as an inner planet also keeps it near the Sun, making it highly visible at dawn or dusk.
