Whether you want to take to the slopes, explore the snow-covered wilderness or maximise your Northern Lights potential Iso-Syote has something unique to offer Arctic travellers. Situated among the fells, the resort boasts panoramic views of the surrounding forests as well as allowing clear views of the night sky for Aurora hunters. As Iso Syote was 'Finland's Best Ski Resort' in 2022, it is the ideal place for skiing and snowboarding, but you can really broaden your horizons when it comes to winter activities if you go 'off piste' and take to the local forest trails whether by ski, snowshoe, fatbike, dogsled, reindeer sleigh or snowmobile.
The KIDE is located in the heart of the Iso-Syöte ski resort, with easy access to the slopes opened in November 2019. Offering cosy rooms and its own Bistro serving Italian style food with Scandic ingredients and influences, the KIDE is the perfect base for your Arctic adventures in the pristine wilderness beyond.
The resort is smaller than those found in continental Europe so the slopes are less crowded and ideal for beginners. You can pre-book passes and equipment hire for skiing and snowboarding but we can also help to create your own ideal itinerary by selecting from the Arctic's most sought-after winter activities. The hotel operates the activities to its own weekly schedule so it is easy to allocate your time and decide exactly how relaxed or active you would like to be.
Your options range from the traditional (snowshoes, cross-country skis, dog sleds and reindeer sleighs) to the modern (fat bikes and snowmobiles) and you can even take snowshoe and snowmobile tours at night to maximise the potential to experience the Northern Lights.

| Whilst KIDE is a new kid on the block in terms of hotels in Northern Finland it has fast become one of our team’s favourites! It combines stylish, elegant Scandinavia design with modern hotel facilities and a great restaurant. The hotel restaurant is popular with locals and the hotel’s own guests. Tea, coffee and snacks are served outside of mealtimes (payable locally) and breakfast is served as a buffet and very highly reviewed both online and by our own staff following their visit.

Personalise This Tour
Fat bikes have oversized tires that allow you to ride on snow and ice with relative ease, so you can go places that would be inaccessible on a regular bike. This makes them an ideal way to explore some of the most beautiful parts of the forests around Iso-Syote that might otherwise be inaccessible. They are also very quiet so you may even see moose and reindeer as you go.

This activity allows you to accomplish a real winter ambition for so many people. You will transfer to the nearby husky kennels before meeting the dedicated team who care for these dogs. The huskies’ excitement is palpable upon arrival as they are so incredibly keen to get out on the trail, their very favourite thing! As soon as you set off, total calm descends and you can relax and enjoy the snowy winter landscape as they guide you along the trail. Each sleigh can fit up to 2 adults and 2 children and adults will have the chance to switch drivers on route. There is also a chance to stop and take pictures for a great souvenir from your trip.
You will cover around 10-15km out on the safari and the activity will take around 3.5 hours including a 30-minute transfer each way from the hotel.

And if you haven't tried skiing or snowboarding before, Iso-Syöte is definitely the place to give it a go! The resort has great facilities, amazing snow and friendly instructors. Lessons can be arranged for a duration 100 minutes, includes lift pass and instructing from £33 per person and equipment rental for session only from £13 per person
It is also possible to arrange for a 100 minute lesson but with equipment hire and lift passes for the full day, so you can make the most of your newly honed skills.
Include a day of skiing or snowboarding to your winter holiday. Take advantage of Iso-Syötes illuminated slopes, and experience skiing under the pale midwinter sun and the sky full of stars. The resort has great facilities as well as amazing snow and the friendliest instructors you can imagine. They offer lessons for couples, families and private groups alike. Lessons and coaching are available for all skill levels.
The ski or snowboard lesson 100 minutes and a day lift pass and day rental are included in the price.

Aurora snowshoeing is a great way to explore the National Park by night, taking in not only spectacular views of the resort but also taking you to more remote locations to maximise your chances of seeing the Aurora.

Searching for the Northern Lights by snowmobile is a great way to experience the hugely atmospheric forests at night. Twisting and turning as the trail winds through the snow-covered forests and past frozen lakes, surrounded by the silence of the arctic night is often a highlight of any trip. And if you’re lucky, you’ll also be rewarded with a stunning display of the Northern Lights dancing across the sky. There will be opportunity to stop and swap drivers and enjoy hot drinks and snacks by the campfire. Drivers must be 18+ with a valid driver’s licence. Children under 140cm will ride in the sled pulled by the guide’s snowmobile.

Embark on an exhilarating snowmobile safari adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of Iso-Syöte. This guided tour takes you on a journey through pristine forests, snow-covered trails, and stunning panoramic views, providing you with an unforgettable experience of the Arctic wilderness.

Explore the National Park by cross country skis with an experienced guide. After picking up the basic technique you will take to the trails and embrace the silence as you take in the amazing snow-covered scenery.

Enjoy the Lappish winter scenery and feel the fresh winter air on an invigorating journey through the fells. There are over 120 kilometres of well-maintained trails to choose from, but your guide will select a route to suit your group and ensure you are familiar with the equipment before setting out.
