Brändön Lodge – Autumn Auroras in Swedish Lapland

  • Details

Details

Brändön Lodge sits on the spectacular shores of the Bay of Bothnia. It is the perfect place to hunt for the Northern Lights in autumn, with minimal light pollution and plenty of activities to maximise your chances. During your time here, you’ll enjoy a gentle Aurora hike, take a tour of the UNESCO-listed Gammelstad Church Village and hone your Nordic wilderness skills.

Travelling to Swedish Lapland in autumn gives you the chance to see the spectacular changing colours of the season, as well as the potential to see the Northern Lights dancing in the sky above.
At this time of year, the leaves turn to shades of deep orange, yellow and red, and the first frosts start to appear as summer light fades into an autumnal glow. The shorter days mean darker skies, which provide an ideal backdrop when hunting for the Aurora. From mid-October into November, you may witness the first snow of winter and in this case, you will swap your hiking boots for snowshoes.
From your cosy cabin accommodation on the shores of the Bay of Bothnia, you are only a short walk away from the main lodge where tasty, local food is served and a welcoming atmosphere can be found as you relax in the bar and lounge.
During this three-night trip, you will explore the area and learn about the local nature, history and culture. We've made sure to include some exciting activities, both by day and night so that you can make the most of your time in Swedish Lapland.
You'll take part in a nature walk through the surrounding forest, where your guide will share their knowledge about the area and the various wilderness skills they use during the seasons, as they show you how to make your own campfire and wilderness lunch.
A guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Gammelstad Church Village, is also included and here you will have the opportunity to walk through this 15th Century historical site, learning about its past and significance in Scandinavian culture.
Brandon Lodge is where some of our best Northern Lights displays have been seen, which is why we've made sure to include an evening searching for the Aurora. You'll head out for a walk in search of the lights, as your expert guide leads the way. The dark skies and the reflections from the glistening sea provide the perfect opportunity to hunt for the Aurora.
You can also add on extra activities, such as searching for seals and birds by boat, or kayak, and there's even the chance to hunt the Northern Lights at sea. With plenty of free time, you can tailor your trip as you like.
