Throughout the day, you'll have the opportunity to partake in a range of unforgettable Arctic activities, such as dog sledding, snowmobiling, a reindeer sleigh ride, cross-country skiing, and much more.
While most of the accommodation types here at the Northern Lights Village in Pyha offer the unique chance to hunt for Auroras from the comfort of your bed, you may wish to kick off the evening with a dedicated Northern Lights activity. You can choose from several fantastic options, including snowmobiling and snowshoeing, which will lead you deeper into the wilderness, accompanied by knowledgeable local guides.

Accommodation
One of our favourite partners, Northern Lights Village, opened the doors on their brand new destination in Pyhä in 2023. We have been privileged enough to watch this awesome team create two of our most popular destinations from the initial concept stage right through to the professional operation to which we send hundreds of happy guests each month during the Autumn and Winter seasons.
The small village of Pyhä is around 130km North of the Arctic Circle and around 90 minutes from Rovaniemi airport. The Northern Lights Village is located about 5km from the nearby downhill ski resort. The village is set in a beautiful, picturesque snowy forest and just a very short walk away you can find the frozen Lake Pyhäjärvi.
Facilities
- This is the only Northern Lights Village with 4 different types of accommodation, 2 of which are exclusive to Pyhä. You will be spoilt for choice between the 3 different glass roofed options (each special in it’s own way) or the effortlessly cool, stylish Taiga (pronounced like Tiger) cabins. There is something for everyone here!
- The Aurora Cabins, Aurora Suites and Sky View Suites are all located near to the main building with the snowy forest extending into the distance behind them. The Taiga cabins are a 5-10 minute walk from the main building and set further into the snowy picturesque forest. There are always some sledges lying around to borrow to help get any littlies with tired legs back to the cabin.
- Almost all of the activities start onsite and those which don’t are less than a 15-minute drive away. No lengthy transfers here to waste time on your holiday!
- There is an onsite restaurant where all your meals will be served and a large bar/ lounge area too. You can enjoy a buffet breakfast of hearty continental options and hot dishes, while evening meals feature local delicacies like reindeer and Arctic char. Vegetarian, vegan and other dietary requirements are well-catered for with advanced notice. There is also a Bistro menu if you wished to upgrade one evening (payable locally).
- All of your winter clothing is provided, simply go to the onsite Safari House where overalls, gloves, boots, skis and snowshoes are stored for easy access. The local team will be happy to advise on sizing and how to dress to complement the clothing provided (The Aurora Zone also provides a comprehensive suggested packing list too with top tips from our experts). You can also exchange your clothing at any stage if it gets wet or cold so you are ready for your next adventure!
- There are two private ‘Aurora Cabin saunas’ with hot tubs on site – these are really popular and an awesome way to unwind and relax. You can either book these in advance with our team to ensure availability or locally with the reception (additional payment required unless this is listed in the ‘what’s included’ section of your specific holiday)
