You’ll then head around 10 kilometres north to the ski village of Saariselka where you can tailor your time with downhill skiing, additional activities or some more relaxing options. Both of these destinations offer you their own highlights.

Muotka Wilderness Lodge is nestled in the heart of the fells and forests of North West Finnish Lapland. The Northern Lights Adventure is one of our most popular itineraries here and guests will enjoy a full range of Arctic activities and adventures during their action-packed stay.

Snowshoe hikes, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and dog sledding are all included, along with a visit to a reindeer farm, and three dedicated Northern Lights activities which are designed to maximise your chances of witnessing a display. The local guides are excellent and they will ensure that you make the most of your time here and really get to take in the wonderful scenery and wild landscapes.

Following on from your time at Muotka you will head slightly further north to the ski village of Saariselka, where you will stay in a centrally located hotel and you can completely tailor your time. The main draw of Saariselka is the chance to enjoy some downhill skiing or make use of the variety of cross-country ski trails which start here. It’s a place where people can be independent and enjoy their time however they choose. There are additional activities which can be arranged and of course, there are Northern Lights hunts to book if you wish, however, a simple short walk at night will lead you to dark skies and some great viewpoints.

This is very much a holiday of two parts, and two very different locations, but between them, they provide the chance to participate in just about all of the experiences on offer in Lapland.
