Northern Lights Holidays to Muonio
Lapland, which is not technically its own country, more a region as it 'laps' over Finland, Sweden, Norway and even a small section of Russia. With the majority of Lapland North of the Arctic Circle, trips in both winter and summer to the region afford some spectacular sights.
In the winter there are the Northern Lights to witness and in the summer the often lesser known Midnight Sun makes an appearance. As the weather starts to make its change in the spring the rivers and snow melt leaving an adult playground for those with a sense of adventure.
Rajamaa, your accommodation for this trip, can be found on its own little island surrounded by the River Muonio in a beautiful area of Lapland with unspoilt natural beauty and an abundance of tracks and trails which can be explored by foot or bike. The island lies directly between the border of Sweden and Finland however its country of residence is Sweden. This area is where you will find the unspoilt natural beauty that Sweden has to offer. With rivers rich in fish, forests home to a number of bears and the skies dotted with rare birds the area is a wildlife lover's dream.
Do not worry if you are slightly confused by the location of the island as even the locals try not to distinguish between the two too much. You will find the local language spoken is Finnish and even road signs will be wrote in Finnish.
