Ashleigh was raised in a small town in Cumbria and from an early age developed a passion for travel. After relocating to the North East in 2008 she studied Travel and Tourism Management at Northumbria University for 4 years. During her time studying, she enjoyed learning about what motivates people to travel to new places and what gives people the desire to create travel bucket lists.
Watching the Northern Lights has always ranked very highly on her own bucket list and is something she is keen to be able to tick off one day!
Ashleigh joined the Aurora Zone team in 2012 and works in the Marketing Department. She particular loves keeping up-to-date with the latest Aurora Borealis sightings and does so by using Aurora Alerts and Apps so she has a good idea when a Northern Lights display is likely to occur.
Like many people, Ashleigh has always been intrigued by the Northern Lights and is always keen to learn more about them. Her role in the Marketing Department allows her to look through lots of spectacular Northern Lights images and footage. Some of her favourite Northern Lights photographers include Gareth Hutton, Antti Pietikainen and Markku Inkilä. One of her favourite images of the Aurora Borealis is the Northern Lights reflecting over the lakes in Finnish Lapland during Autumn.
Here are some of Ashleigh’s favourite Northern Lights images:
