Our long-term guide and partner, Timo Halonen captured the moment in the night sky above the remote reindeer-herding settlement of Menesjarvi. Menesjarvi is one of our absolute favourite spots. The isolated location means that there is very little light pollution and with plenty of excellent vantage spots nearby, there is always a very good chance of seeing the Northern Lights.
Last night’s display was by no means the most spectacular and Timo’s image illustrates that the darkest nights are not yet upon us. Nevertheless, the first Aurora of the new season always brings anticipatory excitement for the coming months. As ever, we’ll be out and about capturing the best displays from the greatest locations.
Keep watching this space folks.
