We were lucky enough to have a snowmobile each and once we started our tour, I found it was very easy to manoeuvre and keep it under control. A good tip to remember is pulling the handle for your turns, rather than pushing and to let go of the acceleration if you feel it going the wrong way!
As we made our way through the surrounding forest, we admired the stunning scenery complete with snowy trees and footprints of various wild animals. What’s more, the moon was beginning to peek out of the clouds – an exciting sign that the Northern Lights may appear!
We stopped in the open to enjoy hot juice and delicious biscuits as we soaked in the silence of the natural Arctic surroundings. Sadly, the Northern Lights hadn’t made their appearance and we were ready to return back to our accommodation and call it a night. However, on the way back, we really must have had luck on our side. The Northern Lights made a very short, but extremely magically appearance in the dark Arctic sky above. It will truly be a fond memory for me whizzing through the wintery forest on a snowmobile with the Aurora Borealis.
It’s hard to decide what I loved most about my first trip to Finland, but I do know snowmobiling is right up there!
