It is almost impossible to decide which aspect of this hotel is the most enticing. The location is stunning, the accommodation is simply idyllic, there is an array of activities on offer and of course, there is a fantastic chance of spotting the Northern Lights! With hotels in both Nellim and Muotka, two of our most popular destinations, our partners here are nothing less than experts in the world of winter holidays. We really don’t see how all of this could get any better - oh, other than the fact that for the duration of winter, the hotel is open to adults only! Bring on an especially peaceful winter break!!
The newly renovated resort is located on the southern shore of Lake Inari with a broad and breathtaking lake view that is ideal for Northern Lights spotting. The hotel is made up of four buildings, with a main reception building. Here you will also find Nangu’s elegant restaurant with a cosy log interior and menu made up of exquisite local delicacies.
From here, there are two separate accommodation buildings which are no more than 50 metres from the main building, meaning easy access to all facilities. Offering both single and double rooms, there is something to accommodate any group size. Plus, there are superior rooms for those who want to enjoy panoramic views of the lake and, hopefully, the shimmering Northern Lights. The fourth building contains a traditional sauna, perfect for relaxing and warming up after a long day out in the snow.
And finally, Nangu offers all of our favourite and most popular winter activities. These include snowmobiling, snowshoeing, Northern Lights excursions (of course), cross-country skiing and ice fishing. You can also visit Nellim’s huskies and reindeer, as they offer an excursion which rolls the two activities into one day. This includes a snowmobile-pulled sleigh ride, a visit to Nellim’s church and a meeting with a traditional Sámi reindeer herder who will show you the whys and wherefores of life on the reindeer farm.
Phew; I think I have just about covered everything. I must, however, include a big thank you to Jouko and Mari from The Aurora Zone team. We wish you the best of luck on opening the doors and we can’t wait for the launch. To you, our readers, keep your eyes peeled for a brand new trip to Nangu on our website, coming soon!
