- Clearer skies and warmer temperatures!
Autumn’s weather is generally a lot calmer than other Aurora hunting seasons. This means slightly warmer temperatures, less cloud cover and therefore clearer skies. Not only is it a more pleasant time to wait for the lights to appear, but in terms of actually seeing the Aurora, clear skies mean there’s a higher chance to spot the lights dance in the sky when solar activity is in full swing!
- Flushed with colour!
Autumn in the Arctic Circle is simply stunning. It brings those gently burnished colours by day and dancing Auroras come nightfall.
- The magic of the autumn equinox!
Solar activity is believed to increase in the weeks around the equinox and in our experience, this is true! Last September saw five nights in a row of mystical displays above Finnish Lapland. With those chances, why wouldn’t you give autumn a go?
- Two Auroras for the price of one!
The ‘big freeze’ is yet to happen in the Arctic and if you’re lucky enough to witness the Northern Lights by a lakeside, you’ll definitely be in for a treat if they’re also reflected upon the still water!
- Oh-so-quiet!
Travelling in autumn is frequently overlooked in favour of the winter months. Autumn is a much quieter time to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Lapland.
