The first Auroras of the 2016/17 season started to appear in the skies over Northern Finland in late-August and have continued to sparkle during the first week of September. In fact, at the time of writing (06 Sept 16) solar activity has been very high and geomagnetic storms on all of the first five days of this month have led to some extremely promising early Auroral displays.
As ever, our guides and photographers have been out and about enjoying the magic and in some cases, taking advantage of the Aurora’s mystical presence to find some time for a spot of yoga under remarkable skies. Here are a few early images captured by Aurora photographer extraordinaire, Antti Pietikainen.
The days of 24 hour daylight are behind us and the dark Lappish skies are already revealing their magic. We are all very, very excited and looking forward with huge anticipation to yet another amazing Aurora hunting season.
